⚜️ Shooting competitions help keep me on track with improving my skills consistently. Especially as a protector, it’s less about the game and more about non-standard problem-solving. Consistently and continually looking at new equations and how to solve them most effectively.

Tactical shooting is different because there’s a rule book, I focus on strategic moves/tactics you are aiming to implement. Learning to do both effectively in my opinion is one of the best ways to fill the gaps between your movement, creativity, tactics, and problem-solving abilities while operating with your firearm.

Crystallized intelligence is very good when you run into a specific type of problem but fluid intelligence truly helps you deal with everything in between. My suggestion is to train, stay intimate with your tools, your principles, and skillsets at all times.

Lastly, when you haven’t shot in a competition for a while it exploits your weaknesses and bad habits. Without being familiar with these, we are simply not on the path to improvement. It’s not about being the best as much as it is about training enough to perform at your best as often as possible. Improve your baseline by getting out and training. ???
