Here’s a message from Jared Reston with Reston Group of Training. In 2008, Detective Jared Reston was working off-duty at a mall when he received a call about two shoplifters. One suspect was taken into custody, but the other was fleeing the scene. Detective Reston ran after the suspect and caught up with him, where the suspect turned and shot Detective Reston several times. Despite the wounds, Detective Reston’s survival instincts kicked in and he managed to regain his focus and, while still lying on the ground, drew out his service weapon and returned fire, striking the suspect several times and ending the pursuit.

Jared says that as a society we have become equipment and technology-dependent which we need to get rid of. We need to have more force options within ourselves rather than getting dependent more and more on exterior accessories. People need to learn the body language of their opponent. You need to develop the right mindset and train to win the fight.
