In my opinion, when it comes to law enforcement work, pulling over a vehicle can be like playing Russian roulette… It’s natural to relax over time, it’s natural to want to have positive interactions with people but it’s also very real that when you’re a police officer who just pulled them over, they might try to kill you. You never know who is behind those wheels, and it may very well take an ugly turn at any time on any day!

And that is why it is important to look out for pre-threat indicators, nervous behaviors, body language. Sometimes there really aren’t many or any pre-threat indicators and it just comes down to the luck of the draw and sheer athleticism but we should all train to recognize pre-attack signs and symptoms as much as possible.
